How often should I get a Hydrafacial?

Consistent skincare treatments every 4-6 weeks is key…and here’s why:

A good skincare routine is extremely important, and consistency is key for a smooth appearance, even complexion, and bright, healthy skin. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to skin care…we don’t just want to just focus on the surface area of the skin, what is happening to the actual skin cells really makes a difference in what we see on the outside.

Cell turnover rate is one of the most important factors in youthful, ageless skin. It refers to the rate at which a cell migrates from the dermis to the top of the epidermis (the skin you see with your eye). Youthful skin cells turn over about every 28 days. As we age, the turnover rate slows down.

What does this mean? New skin cells and bright and youthful. With age, your skin cells are staying longer in the dermal layers than they should. Adults in their 50s and older have a cell turnover rate ranging from 42-84 days. This means you’re not getting those newer, fresh skin cells for 2 ½ months…It is no wonder skin looks dull and dry!

Keeping the cell turnover going is one of the most important factors in skin preservation.

So how does one speed up their cell turnover if it automatically declines with age? This is where your treatments come into play. On average, there are about 15-20 layers of dead skin that sit on top of the epidermis. Exfoliation is one of the key factors in speeding up the cell renewal cycle.

Using an at home exfoliation will help reduce the amount of dead skin build up. This can be in the form of a physical exfoliator, like our Skin CoLAB favorite, ZO Exfoliating Polish, or can be done chemically with AlphaRet Peel Padsby Skin Better Science.

To truly energize the skin and get a deep exfoliation, professional skin care treatments are needed. A customized treatment, like a Skin CoLAB Hydrafacial, increases the exfoliation levels and with reoccurring treatments can increase your cell turnover rate to replenish and maintain youthful skin.

We all want results. Skin care treatments are recommended every 4 to 6 weeks. Men and women, all ages and skin types benefit the most from this routine as treatments are customized during every visit to tailor to hormonal, seasonal and lifestyle needed. Other services likeMicroneedling, Hair Removal, and BBL Laser require multiple treatments to see the best result. Remember, skin is always evolving and to see the results we are all hoping for consistency is key.

No matter where you are in your skin care journey, our team of professionals cannot wait to welcome you for a skin care analysis or visit at our beautiful Downtown Ada Skin CoLAB location.
